Early life and education
Steven Glynn was born on March 12, 1988 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute in Scarborough before graduating from Ryerson University.[3]
Career
Dangle began his career in 2007,[4] at the age of 19, when he began posting hockey-related content to YouTube.[5][6][7] Dangle quickly gained support from fellow Toronto Maple Leafs fans and grew his social media presence.[8][9][10]
Dangle is well known for his web series Leafs Fan Reaction, which is often shortened to LFR and features Dangle reporting on Toronto Maple Leafs games and news.[11][12][13] He is also known for his podcast The Steve Dangle Podcast which features him and his childhood friends and fellow analysts, Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake, discussing hockey.[14]
In 2014, Dangle began working for Sportsnet.[15] He started off working behind the scenes until eventually he began hosting hockey events and producing videos for their YouTube channel and website as well as writing articles for them.[16][17] He also runs the web series Steve's Dang-Its and Steve's Hat-Picks for Sportsnet.[18][19]
In 2019, Dangle released a book documenting his life and career titled This Team Is Ruining My Life (But I Love Them): How I Became A Professional Hockey Fan.[20][21] The book was released to critical praise.[22][23][24]
In 2020, Dangle received media coverage after his video reporting on the Leafs losing to the Carolina Hurricanes, who had David Ayres, Toronto Marlies zamboni driver, in net, went viral in Canada.[25][26][27]
Personal life
Family
Dangle married Sarah-Louise Glynn, also known as Mrs. Dangle, in 2014 and the couple had a son, named Leo, in 2020.[28] They also had 2 dogs, named Iggy and Charlie.[29] Charlie died in 2020.[30] He and his family reside in Oshawa.[31]
Controversies
In 2016, Dangle received some backlash after he alluded to the fact that Evgeni Malkin's newborn baby was "useless" and holding him back.[32]
In May 2020, Dangle garnered some controversy after he put out a tweet in which he vocalized his disliking of President Donald Trump by calling him and his supporters "cowardly, weak-kneed, bed-wetting, piece(s) of shit."[33]
