"Streets" is a melancholy R&B ballad that lasts for a duration of three minutes and forty-seven seconds.[1][2][3] Lyrically, Doja Cat sings about her woes from a previously failed relationship in the first verse, before detailing her reasons on coming back to her partner in the second verse.

In early 2021, "Streets" began to gain traction on streaming services following the Hot Pink Sessions performance uploaded on YouTube, which further sparked traction on the video-sharing platform TikTok, where it has been used in over 180 thousand videos as of January 2021.[8] The "Silhouette Challenge" that soon originated on the same platform would also later boost the song's popularity even more.[9][10] It subsequently debuted at number 18 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Songs, moving up to a peak of number five.[11] The next week, "Streets" debuted at number 91 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart issue dated January 23, 2021, becoming Doja Cat's eighth appearance on the chart. It propelled to number 39 in its second week, marking her fourth highest-ranking title in the country, and third as a lead artist. It also doubles as the second top-forty single from Hot Pink. Notably, the "34+35" remix jumped to number two the same week, with Doja Cat being only the third female artist to place two songs within the Hot 100's top 40 that week along with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion.[12] The song would later peak at number 25 on the chart. Similarly, in Canada, "Streets" has peaked at number 30 on the Canadian Hot 100.

In the United Kingdom, "Streets" entered the UK Singles Chart at number 59 on the week ending January 21, 2021.[13] It ascended up to number 20 the following week, earning Doja Cat her third top-twenty entry in the country following "Say So", and "Motive" with Ariana Grande, both in 2020. The song has reached number 12 there, while reaching a peak of number six on the UK R&B Chart. In Ireland, "Streets" debuted at number 61 on the Irish Singles Chart, where it moved up to number 22 in its second week. The song has reached number 13 there.[14]

The track also garnered success in Oceania; it charted on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, debuting at number 46. It has since peaked at number 27 in the country.[15] In New Zealand, "Streets" debuted at number 24 on the New Zealand Singles Chart for the issue dated February 1, 2021 as the highest new entry that week.[16]

Worldwide, "Streets" debuted on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the first time at number 126 on the issue dated January 23, 2021, before moving up to number 32 in its second week. In its third week of charting, it rose to number 16 becoming her highest charting solo song on this chart.[17] It also charted on the Global Excl. the U.S. at number 44.[18]
