Background

The university was founded as a result of the government's desire to provide more higher education opportunities in provincial areas. Suranaree was built on 1,120 hectares in the Huay Ban Yang Reservoir area, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. King Bhumibol Adulyadej signed the Suranaree University of Technology Founding Bill on 27 July 1990, now considered its founding day.[3]
