Techno India University

Techno India University (TIU) is a private university in Kolkata, which is in the state of West Bengal in India.[1] Its campus is in the Salt Lake City. It was inaugurated on 7 August 2012, by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

Techno India University has a campus located in the heart of the IT hubs of Kolkata, West Bengal, near the Wipro More and other colleges like IIHM (Indian Institute of Hotel Management), IBS Calcutta, Times Now India Office, etc.

Academics

Admission

Techno India University, West Bengal encourages student admission in Engineering through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, JEE-Main and Techno National Joint Entrance Examination (TNJEE). TNJEE is an Online Entrance Examination for Graduates, Post-Graduates, and Doctorate level admissions. For maintaining the quality of education, students are required to clear any of these examinations for admission. Techno India University is UGC approved, and maintains UGC guidelines for all its academic curriculum and activities. There is a provision for direct admission for a limited number of Non-resident Indian/Foreign National students. The is one of the largest universities in Kolkata, Westbengal.

Library

The library is one of the key sources of knowledge at Techno India University. One of the library's roles is to support and sponsor various study, teaching research and development programs from time to time. There is more than 25000+ collection in the library. Any student or staff can read in the library. The library is also developing towards digitisation which is enriched with ebooks, online journals, online services etc.

Controversies & Criticism

Ragging

On August 2017 a first year engineering student reported a ragging case with his parents. This matter unveils when ABP Ananda telecasted this on their channel.[2]

Student life

Vivarta is the technical festival, Sahotsava is the cultural festival and Rudra is the sports festival organized every year at the university.
