Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana (transl.If income is eight, expenditure is ten) is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by V. Sekhar. The film features Nassar and Raadhika in lead roles. The film had musical score by Chandrabose and was released on 6 August 1994. The film performed well at the box office. It was later remade in Telugu as Aasthi Mooredu Aasha Baaredu (1995) and in Kannada as Hendtheer Darbar (2010).[1][2][3]

Plot

Sivaraman (Nassar), an honest government clerk, and his wife Lakshmi (Raadhika), belong to a middle-class family and they have two children. Anja Singam Marudupandi (Goundamani), a corrupted politician, moves into a new house near Sivaraman's house. Marudupandi's lifestyle influences Lakshmi and she tries to ape him by buys luxurious items on instalments. This puts pressure on Shivarama and he takes a loan from his office peon but the police arrest him for corruption. He later finds a job in a brandy company with Marudupandi's recommendation.
