History

The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1330, but the church was not new at that time. The church was likely a stave church. During the 1600s, the church was renovated and expanded. After the renovation, the church measured 15 by 9.5 metres (49 ft × 31 ft) with a choir measuring 5.6 by 6.9 metres (18 ft × 23 ft). In 1846, the church was torn down and replaced with the present church which stands on the same site.[3] The new church was consecrated on 16 September 1846 by the local dean, Johan Grønn Lund.[4]
