The station is the flagship of the statewide "Classical NPR News network" from South Carolina Public Radio.

From its sign-on and sign-off in 1976 until 2001, it was the overall flagship of the South Carolina Educational Radio Network. In 2001, however, sister stations WRJA-FM in Sumter, WJWJ-FM in Beaufort and WHMC-FM in Conway broke off to carry an expanded schedule of NPR news programming.
