The temple was built in the late Ayutthaya period by wealthy Chinese merchant named "Liap" (เลี้ยบ). Apart from the beautiful tradition architectures and Buddha statues, the highlight is the wall paintings inside the main ordination hall, which is the work of Krua In Khong (ขรัวอินโข่ง), a monk and a talented artist who lived during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV).[1]
