Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland and rocky areas. It is threatened by habitat loss. It is threatened by changes in the local fire regime that have caused the grass T. microstachya to be replaced by sorghum, leading to inadequate habitat quality and lack of reproductive success.[2]
