2023 United States gubernatorial elections

The 2023 United States gubernatorial elections will be held on November 7, 2023 in the states of Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In addition, special elections may take place (depending on state law) if other gubernatorial seats are vacated. These elections form part of the 2023 United States elections. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all three states were in 2019.

Andy Beshear (Kentucky)

Governor Andy Beshear was elected in 2019 with 49.20% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. There is a possibility that this is a rematch of the 2019 Kentucky Gubernatorial election. Potential Republican candidates include U.S. Representative James Comer or Former Governor Matt Bevin.[1]

John Bel Edwards (Louisiana)

Governor John Bel Edwards was re-elected to a second term in 2019 with 51.33% of the vote. He will be term-limited from the Louisiana Constitution in 2023, and will therefore be unable to seek re-election for a third consecutive term. Potential Republican candidates include Attorney General Jeff Landry, lieutenant governor Billy Nungesser, U.S. Representative Garret Graves, state senator Sharon Hewitt, Treasurer John Schroder, Agricultural commissioner Mike Strain, and U.S. Senator John Kennedy.[2][3]

Governor Tate Reeves was elected in 2019 with 51.91% of the vote. He is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so.
