A Aa revolves around the lives of 23-year-old Anasuya Ramalingam and Aanand Vihari and their families. Aanand, a former chef, runs an e-foods business in Hyderabad. He belongs to a middle-class family with responsibilities to fulfill, like getting his sister Bhanumathi married and paying off debts.

Anasuya is the daughter of a rich and strict mother named Mahalakshmi. When her mother goes on a business trip, her father Ramalingam sends her along with Mangamma to Kalavapudi village near Vijayawada to spend some time at Aanand's home.

Aanand happens to be Anasuya's cross cousin, but she does not know about his family until she reaches there. While she happily discovers the joy of being at her aunt's house in Kalavapudi, she comes to know that Aanand is being forced to marry Nagavalli by her father Pallam Venkanna. However, Aanand keeps deferring it, saying Bhanu's marriage needs to happen first. Anasuya and Bhanu also become good friends. A series of Comical situations occur, Anasuya asks for an AC and a TV, Aanand gets her a TV worth Rs. 90,000 but gives a home-made stick and rope contraption in lieu of the Air Conditioner. One day when Nagavalli comes to their house, she takes an instant disliking to Anasuya, to get back at Nagavalli, Anasuya coaxes Aanand into carrying her downstairs for Lunch, like he had done once previously.

An irked Nagavalli gets Pallam Venkanna to call and inform Anasuya's Father and indirectly threaten him of exposing her stay in Kalavupudi to Mahalakshmi. However, Gopal, Mahalakshmi's secretary, calls Mahalakshmi and reveals everything, having heard the conversation through another line. Ramalingam maintains his calm but quickly calls Aanand and asks him to bring Anasuya and Mangamma back before Mahalakshmi lands from Chennai. Aanand borrows a jeep from Nagavalli (She gave it to him after he said that he needs it to drop Anu in her house). Thus, Aanand manages to help Anu and Mangamma reach home just in time.

Anasuya now realises her love for Aanand. However, Mahalakshmi has already arranged her marriage with a rich guy named Shekhar. Having tactfully avoided two meetings previously, Anasuya is forced to meet him at golf course this time. There, she accidentally hits the ball straight at his face and also injures the caddie. When Anu takes Shekar to the hospital, she runs into Aanand. He reveals that he came here because Pallam Venkanna had spoken harshly about Bhanu not getting married, their financial status when he had visited their house, eventually pitching the idea of Aanand marrying Nagavalli, again. This had hurt his mother, and she is now hospitalized. Anasuya is happy to see Aanand. However, her plans are crushed after Nagavalli and Pallam Venkanna arrive. Nagavalli again starts getting close to Aanand, and this angers Anasuya. She pleads with Aanand to let Bhanu come and stay with her. Aanand agrees but gives permission for only for a day.

Anasuya brings her home and reveals to Mahalakshmi that Bhanu is Aanand's sister. Mahalakshmi initially refuses to let Bhanu in but agrees later. She reveals that she had taken a loan from Aanand's father for business, and when she came to return the money, they had refused and closed the door on her face. She warns Anasuya to be careful with Bhanu. That night Bhanu sees Shekhar's photo and says that he is good-looking. Anasuya again gets an idea, and next day, takes her to a mall and makes a deal with Bhanu that since she had canceled her marriage proposal once, Bhanu owes her and should do the same for her, to which Bhanu agrees. Anasuya again meets Aanand in the mall. She also comes across her mother's friend Latha and is caught with Aanand but is relieved when she sees Latha having an extra-marital affair with Raghu. Pallam Venkanna's brother Pallam Narayana also comes across them, but Aanand manages to divert him. Meanwhile, Shekhar falls for Bhanu. However, over a phone call, his grandfather mistakes Bhanu for Anasuya and agrees for their marriage. Anasuya proposes to Aanand, who reveals that Mahalakshmi delaying and then refusing to return the money she borrowed, was the reason for his father's death. Mahalakshmi discovers that Shekhar loves Bhanu and not her daughter and locks her up. This angers Anasuya, who meets Aanand and urges him to elope with her. He refuses, and this angers her more, and she starts walking aimlessly. She gets kidnapped by Pallam Venkanna's henchmen. Aanand brings her back in time for her engagement with Shekar and takes Bhanu with him. He reveals to Bhanu that he loves Anasuya, and she urges him to reveal the truth to Anasuya. He goes back and does so, saying that he will keep her happy in any way she wants and takes her. Mahalakshmi demands Aanand to let go of her daughter, for which he says that she had gone to give money on the cremation day of his father and she is the reason for his death as Mahalakshmi failed to repay the loaned money on time and takes Anasuya with him.

When Anasuya and Aanand reach his house, she is surprised to see her parents there. Her father reveals that as soon as Anasuya and Aanand left, Mahalakshmi had a seizure attack, and he managed to convince her about them, thus the relationship between her mother and Anasuya is also mended. Aanand catches a mouse says that there is no one to trouble her anymore sans him, at which she laughs.

Pallam Venkanna sees that Nagavalli is happily eating and not worried about Aanand and Anasuya. But she retorts, saying that if one day they are separated, Aanand will come back to her. Pallam Venkanna tries to stop Shekhar from visiting Bhanu to fix their marriage, but he is unable to. The film ends on a happy note.

The film's soundtrack and background music is composed by Mickey J. Meyer, collaborating with Trivikram Srinivas for the first time. The album features five tracks, with lyrics written by Ramajogayya Sastry and Krishna Chaitanya. The audio rights of the film were acquired by Aditya Music. The film's soundtrack album was originally slated to launch on 15 April 2016.[36] However, the audio release was postponed to late April.[37] Eventually, the album was released on 1 May 2016,[38] at a launch event in Shilpakala Vedika at Hyderabad, with actor Pawan Kalyan attending as chief guest.[39][40] The album released in a jukebox format through YouTube, before the launch and got more than 1 million views on the vidoe-sharing platform.[41]

The audio received positive reviews from critics. Behindwoods gave 2.75 out of 5 stating that the album is a "whiff of fresh air from Mickey J Meyer in the midst of heavy duty albums".[42] Sravana Bhargavi of The Times of India gave 4 out of 5 and stated "The album is a winner in terms of the variety that Mickey brings to the table."[43] Indiaglitz gave 3.25 out of 5 stating that "The album comes with good situational songs."[44] Karthik Srinivasan of Milliblog reviewed it as "a simple and modest soundtrack from Mickey J Meyer".[45] Moviecrow gave 3 out of 5 stating it as an "ear-pleasing album far from regular commercial potboilers".[46]

Producer S. Radha Krishna had initially planned to release the film on 14 January 2016, coinciding with Sankranthi,[47] but later the release date was moved to 14 February 2016 to release it on Valentine's Day.[48][49] During early February, the makers psotponed the release of the film to 22 April 2016.[50] The release was further postponed to 6 May 2016,[51] and later to 20 May, due to the release of Suriya's 24 (2016). But the film was postponed to 3 June, due to Mahesh Babu's Brahmotsavam (2016) as a majority of the theaters were occupied for the film.[52] On 26 May 2016, the makers announced that the release of the film was preponed to 2 June.[53]

BlueSky Cinemas, one of the leading players in overseas market for Indian movies bought the rights of this film during early November 2015. They bought the rights of this film before the filming began.[54] During the end of December 2015, Eurotolly bought rights from BlueSky Cinemas to distribute this movie in Europe (excluding UK).[55]
