Anil Panachooran

Anil Panachooran (20 November 1969 – 3 January 2021) was an Indian poet and lyricist, who worked in the Malayalam film industry.[1][2] Anil panachooran was a lawyer by profession.[3] His last lyrics were penned for the movie Within Seconds (2021).He completed the last lines of his song just a few hours before his death. While undergoing treatment for COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in India, he died on 3 January 2021, following a cardiac arrest.[4]

Life and career

Anil was born to Panachoor Veettil Udayabhanu and Draupadi Udayabhanu in Kayamkulam on 20 November 1969. He completed his studies from Kakatiya University, Warangal and The Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. He married Maya and has two children named Maithreyi and Arul.

He made his debut in the Malayalam film industry through the 2005 film Makalkku, which was directed by Jayaraj and music was composed by Ramesh Narayan.

He shot to popularity with film Arabikkatha which was directed by Lal Jose in the year 2007. This was the first assignment in his career. He wrote some prominent lines in the lyrics of the song 'Chora Veena Mannil', which established him in cine world. His next assignment was in the film Katha Parayumpol by M. Mohanan. He wrote lines such as 'Vyathyasthanamoru Barbaram Balane' in this film that was sung by Pradeep Palluruthy.

Anil has written lyrics for many movies of Mohanlal, Dileep, and Indrajith Sukumaran. Some of the prominent films that released those days include Madampii’, Ali Bhai,’ Minnaminnikoottam’, Cycle, Mulla, Twenty:20; some of the prominent composers for whom, he has written lyrics include Alex Paul, Mejo Joseph, M. Jayachandran, Vidyasagar, Afzal Yusuf, Suresh Peters and Berny Ignatius, etc. In between 2007 and 2009, he wrote lines for as many as 11 films out of which nine films fared very well at the box office. In 2009, he wrote lyrics for highly grossed films such as Daddy Cool and in 2010, he again wrote for a successful film Cocktail. In 2011, another film of Mohanlal released which was China Town. In this film, he wrote lyrics for music composer Jassie Gift.

Besides writing lyrics for many hit songs he also wrote many poetry collections in the Malayalam literature.

Death

Panachooran had tested positive for the COVID-19 earlier and died at the KIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram after suffering a massive heart attack.

His relatives demanded post-mortem and police later registered case against unnatural death.[5]
