It was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012.[1][2] Like the C4 Picasso, and the C4 Cactus, it also bears the moniker of C4. The C4 Aircross was confirmed not to be sold in the United Kingdom or Ireland in October 2011, due to the Peugeot 3008 already being sold in those countries.[3]

The C4 Aircross was only sold in (as of January 2017): Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Burkina Faso, China, France, Germany, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mongolia, Morocco, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, Ukraine, and Baltic countries, while its related twin, the Peugeot 4008, was being sold in less countries globally however including countries in Europe listed above, but neither United Kingdom nor Ireland in RHD.[4]

Trim levels

The C4 Aircross was available in three trim levels, this being Attraction, Comfort and Exclusive. The models of Attraction offered, among others, seven series airbags, manual air conditioning, MP3/CD radio, and electric mirrors.

With the trims of Comfort, buyers also benefit from cruise control, automatic climate control, fog lights, and alloy wheels. Finally, the trim of Exclusive allows customers to have front passenger, and rearview camera assist, GPS, electric and heated front seats, as well as 18 inch alloy wheels.

Models, sold from 1 June 2012 through 31 December 2013, were recalled in June 2017, owing to one suspected fault, of the vehicles’ tailgate gas springs.[5] Models, sold from 1 June 2012 through 29 November 2013, were again recalled in September 2017, owing to concerns that the windscreen wiper motors could fill with water and seize.[6]

The entry level was therefore symbolized by the, C4 Aircross 1.6i, in the finish of Attraction. In diesel, the SUV starts with the HDi 115 Attraction. Finally, the high end C4 Aircross was available with the HDi 150 Exclusive.

Successor

The production of the C4 Aircross ceased in April 2017, after five years of marketing, noting the failure of this car, which was basically the rebadged Mitsubishi ASX. It was replaced by the Citroën C5 Aircross,[7] which was unveiled at the Shanghai 2017 China Fair,[8] and then presented in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as the Geneva Motor Show of March 2018, before being officially marketed in November 2018.[9]

However, in China, the nameplate C4 Aircross is given to one long wheel base version of the C3 Aircross, since December 2018.[10]
