The Colombo West Polling Division has a Sri Lankan Tamil plurality (40.2%), a significant Sinhalese population (34.1%) and a significant Moor population (19.2%) . In comparison, the Colombo Electoral District (which contains the Colombo West Polling Division) has a Sinhalese majority (76.5%), a significant Moor population (10.7%) and a significant Sri Lankan Tamil population (10.1%) [1]
