Deng Lun

Deng Lun (Chinese: 邓伦; Chinese: 鄧倫, born 21 October 1992) is a Chinese actor. He gained widespread popularity with the xianxia romance drama Ashes of Love (2018).

Career

2012–2017: Beginnings and rising popularity

In 2012, Deng Lun was picked by Chiung Yao to star in the romance series Flowers in Fog. Thereafter, he became known to the audience.[1] He then starred in period drama Moment in Peking based on the novel of the same name by Lin Yutang.[2] Deng raised his profile after starring in the youth melodrama Promise of Migratory Birds.[3]

In 2017, Deng starred in the family drama Because of Meeting You, adapted from the 2014 Korean drama Jang Bo-ri is Here!.[4] The series placed number one throughout its broadcast and averaged ratings of 1.93%, becoming one of the highest rated drama of the year.[5] Deng then played supporting roles in the highly acclaimed period drama White Deer Plain,[6] as well as metropolitan romance series Ode to Joy 2 and historical action drama Princess Agents.[7][8]

2018–present: Breakthrough

In 2018, Deng starred in the xianxia romance drama Ashes of Love with Yang Zi.[9] Ashes of Love became a commercial success with high ratings and positive reviews. Deng received acclaim for his performance and experienced a surge in popularity.[10] The same year, he starred as the male lead in the fantasy romance drama Sweet Dreams with Dilraba Dilmurat.[11] Forbes China listed him under their 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 list which consisted of 30 influential people under 30 years old who have had a substantial effect in their fields.[12]

In 2019, Deng appeared in CCTV New Year's Gala for the first time, performing the song item "I Strive in Happiness".[13] He starred in the modern drama My True Friend as a property agent.[14] His performance earned him a nomination at the Asian Television Award for Best Actor.[15] The same year, he starred in the romance drama Mr. Fighting, playing an actor who tries hard to regain his fame;[16] as well as period romance drama Blossom in Heart as a wealthy heir.[17] Deng ranked 21st on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.[18]

In 2020, Deng joined Chinese variety game shows Go Fighting and Great Escape as a permanent cast member.[19][20] He ranked 34th on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.[21]
