Although she became a member of 50Plus in December 2019, she will continue to caucus independently until the end of the current parliamentary term.[2] She left 50Plus in May 2020 together with its leader Henk Krol, forming the Group Krol-van Kooten-Arissen, which will participate in the 2021 Dutch general election as the Party for the Future.

After about 3 months, in early August 2020, she left the Party for the Future because she could not agree with the merger of the party with the Group Otten, which was arranged by Henk Krol without her knowledge. She will operate as an independent member of parliament until the elections of March 2021.[3]
