Overview

The Ford I-Max was developed by Ford Lio Ho in Taiwan to replace the Ford Ixion MAV that was discontinued in 2005. It shares the same platform as the Mazda 5. The Ford Lio Ho designed Ford I-Max features the "Kinetic design" design language of Ford at the time with styling changes differing from the Mazda 5 including the redesigned front end, the horizontal tail lamps, and the addition of Ford S-MAX inspired side air-vents.[1]

The Ford I-Max and is powered by Duratec-HE 2.0 liter inline-4 gasoline engine producing 148hp/6000rpm and 19.2kgm/4500rpm mated to a sequential sport shift 4-speed automatic gearbox.[2] The fuel consumption is 8.9km/l in cities, 13.8km/l on highways, and a combined average of 11.5km/l. The I-Max debuted in July 2007 and the starting price was priced at NTD 699,000 yuan featuring duo airbags for the front seats, anti-lock braking system/ Electronic brakeforce distribution, Emergency brake assist, and HID headlamps. There are four trim levels including the 5-seater GLX priced at NTD 699,000 yuan, the 7-seater Ghia priced at NTD 779,000 yuan, the 7-seater Ghia-X priced at NTD 82,000 yuan, the 6-seater Ghia-Limited priced at NTD 879,000 yuan.[3]


A facelift was introduced in 2010 featuring an additional rear fog lamp, smoked headlamps, and red tail lamp lens.[4]
