Great Donington Run

The Great Donington Run was a running and cycling event organised by The Great Run Company, taking place at Donington Park racing circuit near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. The only event was held on 26 June 2016.

The event was sponsored by daily national newspaper The Sun and was referred to as the Great Donington Run in partnership with The Sun.

There are no plans to hold the event in 2017.[1]

Overview

The event, which is motorsports-themed,[2] comprises a cycle event, a 5k running event, a 10k running event, a ten-mile running event and a family mile.

Cycle

The Great Cycle events kick off the day on the traffic-free racing circuit. Similar to a criterium race, riders will ride around the three-mile circuit as many times as they can in an hour. With a leaderboard and Strava 'King of the Hill' section riders will be challenged throughout the route

Great Donington Run 5k

The 5k route takes in one full lap of the Donington Park circuit including a small loop of closed roads on the race circuit site.

Great Donington Run 10k

The 10k route takes in a full lap of the Donington Park circuit and includes a longer loop of closed roads on the race circuit site.

Great Donington Run Ten-Mile

The Ten-Mile route comprises two five-mile laps which take in a full lap of the Donington Park circuit, including a lap of closed roads on the race circuit site.

Great Donington Run Family Mile

The Family Mile is open to children aged 5–15 years old (those aged between 5 and 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult – aged 18 years old or over). After finishing the Family Mile, children will be rewarded with a medal to recognise their achievement.
