Hotel Transylvania 4

Hotel Transylvania 4 is an upcoming American computer-animated comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation. The fourth installment in the Hotel Transylvania franchise and the sequel to Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018), it will be directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon from a screenplay by Genndy Tartakovsky (who directed the prior three films and co-wrote the third film), and stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, and Selena Gomez (who also serves as executive producer alongside Tartakovsky).

The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on August 6, 2021 by Sony Pictures Releasing under its Columbia Pictures label.

Voice cast

  • Adam Sandler as Dracula: The 540-year-old lord of the vampires, and founder of Hotel Transylvania and Mavis' father, Vlad's son, Ericka Van Helsing's husband and Dennis's grandfather.
  • Andy Samberg as Johnny: A 29-year-old human man, who is Mavis's husband and Dennis's father.
  • Selena Gomez as Mavis, the 126-year-old daughter of Dracula, who is Johnny's wife and Dennis's mother.

Production

Development

On February 26, 2019, Sony Pictures Animation announced that a fourth film is in development.[1] On October 4, 2019, Genndy Tartakovsky confirmed that he would not direct the film.[2]

On September 17, 2020, Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon, a storyboard artist on the first two Hotel Transylvania sequels and a former crew member of SpongeBob SquarePants and Adventure Time, respectively, were confirmed to be the film's directors, while Tartakovsky would write the screenplay and serve as an executive producer alongside Selena Gomez, who voices Mavis in the series.[3][4]

Animation

Production was being done remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]

Release

Hotel Transylvania 4 was originally scheduled to be theatrically released on December 22, 2021.[6] On April 24, 2020, the film was moved up to August 6, 2021.[7]
