2017–19: WTA debut, first quarterfinal, top 200

Bara at the 2019 French Open

Bara made WTA debut in singles event at 2017 BRD Bucharest Open, where as wildcard player, she lost in first round from Aliaksandra Sasnovich.[6]

Her next WTA tournament was also there, in 2018, where she made her first WTA singles win, defeating Viktoriya Tomova in the first round, and then lost from Polona Hercog in the second round.[7][8] At the 2018 Moscow River Cup, she defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round, before she was eliminated by Anastasija Sevastova in the second round.[9]

In 2019, at the Baltic Open in Jūrmala, she reached her first and so far only quarterfinal, where she beat two russian players, Margarita Gasparyan and Valentina Ivakhnenko in the first two rounds, before she lost from Sevastova in the quarterfinal.[10] All her other performances at the WTA Tour that year was unsuccessful, losing in the first round in Acapulco from Beatriz Haddad Maia, in Bogotá from Sara Errani, in İstanbul from countrymate Sorana Cîrstea, in Rabat from Hercog and in Bucharest from Jaimee Fourlis.

On July 17, 2017 Bara entered top 200 for the first time, getting to the place of 199. On July 2, 2018 she get to the top 150, reaching place of 150. On August 13, 2018 she get to the place of 139, that was her then-highest singles ranking until 2020.[11] Until 2020, Bara was unsuccessful in her attempt to reach main-draw at the any grand slam. She failed in qualification at all four grand slams, in both 2018 and 2019, as well as at the Wimbledon and US Open in 2017.

2020: Grand Slam debut

In March, Bara qualified for the main-draw of Lyon Open, passing through the qualification. In the main-draw, she beat Tímea Babos in the first round, and then lost from Daria Kasatkina in the second round.[12][13] In late September, Bara played at the qualification of French Open, where she for the first time succeed to qualify for the main-draw of some grand slam.[5] It wasn't only significant thing she done there, but she also marked her first win, defeating seed No. 26 Donna Vekić in straight-sets. Then she passed second round, after retirement of Alison Van Uytvanck during the second round. In third round she won only two games against seed No. 3 Sofia Kenin.[14] Two weeks after French Open, on October 26, Bara made her career-highest singles ranking, as world No. 115.[11]
