KEDD-TV

KEDD-TV, UHF analog channel 16, was an NBC-affiliated television station licensed to Wichita, Kansas, United States that operated from August 15, 1953 to April 30, 1956.[1] It was Wichita's first television station, though stations could be picked up from nearby Oklahoma as early as 1949 with a high enough antenna. The station's studios were located in 2815 East 37th St. North, currently occupied by KTVH (now KWCH-DT).

History

The station signed on the air on August 15, 1953 as Wichita's first television station. It had a primary affiliation with NBC, although it also carried ABC programming as a secondary affiliation until 1954 when KAKE-TV sign on as an ABC affiliate making KEDD-TV an exclusive NBC affiliate.

The station sign off for the last time on April 30, 1956 due to the station's financial problems. The next day, KARD-TV (now KSNW), an independent station at the time, picked up the NBC affiliation from KEDD.
