In 1946, the station first signed on as KOLO.[1] It was owned by the Reno Broadcasting Company and carried programs from the CBS Radio Network.
From 1956 to 1987, it was a sister station to Reno's channel 8, a CBS and later ABC affiliate which still has the KOLO-TV call letters.
