Kwon Eun-bin

Kwon Eun-bin (Korean: 권은빈, born January 6, 2000),[1] known simply as Eunbin, is a South Korean idol and actress. She debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group CLC in February 2016.[2] Kwon Eun-bin, was added to the group with the release of their third EP Refresh on February 29, 2016.[3] She made her acting debut in 2018 in a supporting role in the MBC drama, Bad Papa. In 2020 she appeared in TV Chosun's drama Somehow Family.[4]

In this Korean name, the family name is Kwon.

Early life

Kwon Eun-bin was born on January 6, 2000 in Seoul. Her father is a photojournalist.[5][6] She studied at Wonmyong Elementary School, Yangji Elementary School, Onham Middle School, and Hanlim Multi Art School.[7][8]

Career

2016–2017: Produce 101, debut with CLC

On January 22, 2016, Eunbin came in limelight when she was introduced as a contestant on a Mnet reality girl group survival show, Produce 101.[9] Produce 101 was to produce a girl group from a pool of 101 female trainees from 46 different companies.[10] Kwon Eun-bin represented Cube Entertainment on the Produce 101, alongside Jeon So-yeon, a current member of (G)I-dle, and Lee Yoon-seo, a former trainee at the company.[11]

According to Cube Entertainment, Eunbin originally joined CLC in 2015, but was still a trainee due to the delay of the new album. Because of Produce 101 and its contractual restrictions, she was unable to join the group to promote "High Heels" on music shows. The agency planned for Eunbin to join promotions for "High Heels" if she was eliminated, or postpone her activities with CLC if she were to secure a top 11 ranking on Produce 101.[12] However, she was eliminated in 10th episode and thus did not debut as a member of the consequent group, I.O.I.[13] On May 12, CLC opened their V Live channel, this was followed by a live broadcast with the whole group, including Eunbin.[14][15] She began full promotional activities as a member of the group with the release of Nu.Clear in May 2016.[16] A month later, her activities with the group were temporarily paused due to health problems.[17] Within days, she returned to the group after recovery.[18]

2018–present: Solo activities, acting debut

On March 21, 2018, Eunbin made her runway debut, modelling for Jarrett, at the 2018 F/W Hera Seoul Fashion Week.[19][20]

On June 26, 2018, it was announced that Eunbin would make her debut as a television actress, playing Kim Sang-ah in the drama Bad Papa. The drama began airing in September of the same year. The same year she was also cast in the YouTube Premium Web series, Top Management as the character Eunbin, a member of the popular girl group, Apple Mint.[21]

On July 8, 2019, it was revealed that the singer would participate in the drama Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life of KBS2 as Kim Yeon-ah. However, Eunbin left her role due to problems with her schedule.[22]

On January 21, 2020, TV Chosun announced that Eunbin would be part of the new sitcom Somehow Family The drama began airing in March. The production of the drama was put on indefinite hiatus, after the first 2 episodes were aired.[23][24] On September 2, 2020 she showcased the new single of CLC "Helicopter".[25] In October 2020 she joined the cast of series Dear. M, a spin-off of the popular web drama, Love Playlist, as Min Yang-hee, the series is slated to premiere on KBS2 on February 26, 2021.[26][27]
