Libina

Libina (German: Liebau) is a municipality and village in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,300 inhabitants. The municipality is 8 km long and is located at the foot of the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains.

Libina lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) south-east of Šumperk, 35 km (22 mi) north of Olomouc, and 192 km (119 mi) east of Prague.

Villages of Horní Libina and Obědné are administrative parts of Libina.

History

Libina was probably founded in the 2nd half of 13th century. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1358.[2]

Sights

The monuments of the municipality include the chapel in Dolní Libina, St. George's Church or new renaissance building of Langer's villa.
