There are 16 states of Germany, (German: Bundesländer) which are federated states of the Federal Republic of Germany. Below are these states listed in order of the area, from Bavaria with the greatest area, to Bremen with the least. Germany has a total area of 357,578.17 km2, and is ranked 62nd in the world.
