Malekshahi County

Malekshahi County (Persian: شهرستان ملکشاهی) is a county in Ilam Province in Iran. The Malekshahi tribe is the biggest Kurdish tribe in Ilam. The capital of the county is Arakvaz. It was separated from Mehran County in 2008. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 31,393, in 5,722 families.[1] The county is subdivided into two districts: the Central District and Gachi District. The county has three cities: Arakvaz, Mehr and Delgosha.

The name in Persian language (ملگشاهی) is from old name, Melkishi, a Kurdish [2]tribe spread from Ilam to Ardahan province in Turkey. There is a Georgian counterpart to this tribe, namely the Melikishvili. The Malekshahi of the largest tribes in Iran, Iraq and Turkey. Melikshahi Kurdish language and dialect is malekshahi.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
