Masashi Kumura is a Japanese kickboxer, fighting out of Tokyo, Japan. He is the current Krush 55 kg champion.[1]

As of October 2020, he is the #2 ranked Flyweight according to Combat Press.[2] He's been ranked in the flyweight top ten since September 2020.[3] He was previously ranked in the strawweight top ten by Combat Press from May 2019,[4] until August 2020.[5]
Kickboxing career
Kumura won his Krush debut against Kazuki Okawa by TKO, after dropping Okawa three times in the first round.[6]
In his second fight with Krush, he scored a decision win over Tatsuya Tsubakihara.[7] In his third fight with Krush, he faced Yusho Kanemoto.[8] Kumura won the fight by decision.[9] Kumura was scheduled to fight Shota Oiwa during Krush 94.[10] He won the fight by a first round KO. He fought Victor Saravia during Krush 96.[11] The fight went into an extra round, after which Kumura won by decision.[12]
His five fight Krush winning streak earn him a chance to challenge Taito Gunji for the Krush 55 kg title during Krush 98. He defeated Gunji by unanimous decision.[13]
Kumura participated in the 2019 K-1 Super Bantamweight Grand Prix. Kumura scored a TKO win over Phetpangan Mor.Ratanabandit in the quarterfinals and a unanimous decision win over Samvel Babayan in the semifinals. He lost the final match against Yoshiki Takei by a second round KO.[14]
Masashi was scheduled to make his first Krush title defense against Yuta Hayashi during Krush 108.[15] He defeated Hayashi by majority decision.[16]
Kumura was scheduled to fight Akihiro Kaneko during K-1 K'Festa 3. Kumura won the fight by majority decision.[17]
Kumura made his third title defense in a rematch with Taito Gunji during Krush 117. He won the fight by unanimous decision.[18]
Kumura was scheduled to face Dansiam Ayothaya Fight Gym at K-1: K’Festa 4.[19] The event was later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[20] Kumura was scheduled to fight against an TBA opponent at the rescheduled event held on March 31, 2021.[21]
