Kickboxing career

Taito made his professional debut in February 2015, at Krush 51, against Katsuhiro. He won the fight by majority decision.[4] He fought a draw in his next fight against Takuya Suzuki, defeated Yoshiki and suffered the first professional loss of his career at Krush 63, losing a unanimous decision against Yoshiki Takei.[5] Gunji rebounded from this loss with a three fight winning streak, during which he defeated Hiroto Ishitsuka, Reiji Kasami and Taisuke Degai. His winning streak was snapped by Tatsuya Tsubakihara, who won their bout by majority decision. Despite this loss, Taito was given a chance to fight the reigning Krush 53kg champion Ryusei at Krush 80. Gunji won the fight by unanimous decision.[6]

Taito would win his next two non-title bouts against Shota Oiwa and Takumi Tosaka by unanimous decision, before being scheduled to defend his title against Akihiro Kaneko at Krush 89. The fight went into an extra round, after which Kaneko won a decision.[7][8]

Taito won his next two fights by decision, defeating Riku Morisaka by majority decision and winning the rematch with Tatsuya Tsubakihara by an extra round split decision. These two wins earned him the chance fight Masashi Kumura during Krush 98 for the Krush 55 kg title.[9][10] Kumura won the fight by unanimous decision.[11]

In his next two fights, Gunji defeated Masashi's brother Shuhei Kumura, as well as Suriyanlek Aor.Bor.Tor. Kampee, by unanimous decision. These two victories earned him the right to fight a rematch with Masashi Kumura for the Krush 55 kg title. Taito lost the rematch by unanimous decision.[12][13] Gunji fought Yusho Kamemoto in December 2020, and won by a second round TKO.[14]
