Biography

Verma graduated from York University's Schulich School of Business and worked for Procter and Gamble and other fortune 500 companies in marketing before entering the media industry.[1] She won the Miss Canada title and was a finalist at the Miss Universe pageant, the first woman of Indian-origin to represent the country. She launched her media career when she joined Rogers Media in Toronto as an entertainment presenter for Bollywood Boulevard, and later with Sun TV as a talk show host. She presented First Look with Neelam Verma, a national morning show on Sun News Network.[2] In 2016, she presented a current events show for TRT World in Istanbul, hosted Discovery Channel's Daily Planet in Canada and Sony ESPN's Premier Futsal in India. She has been a speaker and event host for high-profile corporate, entertainment and charity events including IFFA, the United Nations and the Miss Canada Pageant. Verma provides communications, PR and marketing consulting for media companies, brands, corporations and universities.

Television

Verma trained with CNN International and has presented morning news, current affairs, entertainment and lifestyle TV shows.[3] She has interviewed celebrities, CEOs, authors, athletes and spiritual leaders.

She has been a spokesperson for numerous brands and philanthropic foundations. She delivered workshops for the United Nations in Canada and leading universities.

Miss Universe

Verma won the Miss Universe Canada competition in 2002, becoming the first woman of Indian heritage to win the title. She represented Canada at the Miss Universe pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was in the top 10 as a semi-finalist. She hosted the Miss Universe Canada Pageant in 2007, and was on the judging panel for the event in 2010.
