Controversy
Just few days after 2020 International women's day, Indian actress Neha Dhupia was trolled for her defense in a reality TV show in favor a lady who allegedly had 5 boy friends as 'her choice'; and lashing out at one of boy friend who admitted during show that he had slapped his girl friend for cheating on boy friends. The alleging trolling memes questioned dichotomy that same show panelists using cuss words about mother of the contestant who allegedly accepted to have slapped his girl friend; also that in one of earlier shows she condones a girl slapping a boy[22] and also that many memes expressed shock at her defending a woman's infidelity, having multiple boy friends, and cheating on some. Neha Dhupia answered back saying while she does not stand with cheating on some one, same time ‘adultery’ is a moral choice and moral choice is always ambiguous and personal choices of each individual and that she was angered for violence against a girl for her personal choices.[23][24][25][26]
In March 2020, she was trolled on social media after a clip went viral on the internet of the reality show MTV Roadies where Dhupia threw abuses at a male contestant who claimed to have slapped his girlfriend for cheating on him with 5 men. Many comments towards her described her reaction as hypocritical after she did not react with such outrage to a previous incident on Roadies where a female contestant said she had slapped four men, but with support towards the female contestant instead. She was accused of misrepresenting what feminism and gender equality stand for through her hypocritical statements.[27][28] Dhupia still stands by what she said on Roadies.[29]
