Operation Spartan Shield
Operation Spartan Shield (OSS) is a United States Department of Defense operation in the Middle East. OSS is commanded by United States Central Command and includes units from all service branches. Task Force Spartan is the U.S. Army component of OSS. In Syria, on 25 August 2020,[1] a Russian vehicle allegedly rammed a U.S. MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle), which triggered an Operation Spartan Shield countermeasure.[2]

- 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, was in Kuwait,[5] now in Syria September 2020,[3] to protect the troops there.[2]
