The town of Pakri Barawan is located at 25.01°N 85.63°E / 25.01; 85.63 on Nawada-Jamui SH-8, 22 kms away from the town of Nawada. It is divided into two Gram Panchayats: Pakri Barawan Uttar (North) and Pakri Barawan Dakshini (South).

As of 2011, the town has a population of 68,780.

Direct buses for Patna, Dhanbad, Tata, Kolkata, Ranchi are available through various transport providers. Safaris, maxis, and auto-rickshaws are used for local transport in the area. The nearest airports to Pakri Barawan are Gaya International Airport (75 km away), and Patna Airport (102 km away).

Economy

The economy consists mainly of large and small retailers, often with producers in nearby communities. A famous sweet, Wara (Bara), is prepared only in Pakri Barawan.
