In 2015 state assembly election Jai Vardhan Yadav(RJD) defeated Ram Janm Sharma(BJP)with a margin of 24453 votes.[1] Paliganj (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of Pataliputra (Lok Sabha constituency).[2]

Tourism

Ular Sun Temple is situated at a distance of 3km from Paliganj. It is a historical sun temple and people believe that this temple one of the twelve sun temples built by King Samb on the advice of God Krishna. Another monument in this region is Mughal age library situated at Bharatpura This library is known as Gopal Narayan Public Library.
