Species

According to the World Register of Marine Species, this genus has seven extant species.[4] There are five fossil species listed in Fossilworks.[1]

  • Periglypta albocancellata (M. Huber, 2010)
  • Periglypta caesarina
  • Periglypta caribbeana
  • Periglypta corbis (Lamarck, 1818)
  • Periglypta crispata (Deshayes, 1854)
  • Periglypta listeri (J.E. Gray, 1838) – Princess Venus clam
  • Periglypta multicostata (G. B. Sowerby I, 1835)
  • Periglypta puerpera (Linnaeus, 1771)
  • Periglypta reticulata (Linnaeus, 1758)[5]
  • Periglypta tamiamensis
  • Periglypta tarquinia
  • Periglypta weegeeree

The following two species were listed under Periglypta but are now listed under Antigona:[4]

  • Periglypta chemnitzi (Hanley, 1845),[5] now Antigona chemnitzii (Hanley, 1845)
  • Periglypta sowerbyi (Deshayes, 1853), now Antigona sowerbyi (Deshayes, 1854)

In addition, Markus Huber (2010) mentioned that Periglypta and Antigona are synonyms, but Chen et al. (2011) rejected this opinion.[4][6]
