Pindwara

Pindwara is a municipality and tehsil located in Sirohi District in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Pindwara is one of main financial city of Sirohi district after Abu Road. As of 2011, the population of Pindwara is 24,487. It is located 435 km (270 mi) southwest of the state capital, Jaipur, between Aravalli Hills and plains of Marwar region. The city used to be a major area of marble and stone carving in India by long time. It is common belief that if there is any construction of temple work all over the world, it could not complete without involvement of Pindwara artisan. This is proved by this fact that marble carvings of major temples of India like Akshardham temple network, Shri Ram temple Ayodhya are being carried out in the city.

Currently, Pindwara is home to three large industries named UltraTech Cement ltd, JK Laxmi Cement ltd and Wolkem India ltd. Pindwara is mineral rich region having reserves of Limestone, Quartz, Marble, Calcite, Masonry Stone, Wallastonite, Felspar and Granite. Reserves of Copper also have been found in Basantgarh village of Pindwara.

Nearest airports are Udaipur (100 km) and Ahmedabad (230 km). It is connected by RSRTC and GSRTC operated buses to all parts of Rajasthan, and Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Delhi And Mumbai. It also have railway connectivity with Chennai, Banglore, Puri, Hyderabad, Mysuru, Agra, Haridwar, Gwalior, Kolkata, Mumbai, etc.

Many of locals of the city are settled all across the Country.

History

The history of this city is studied with the history of Sirohi. This region comes into the Sirohi state and was established by the Rao Devraj in 14th Century which belongs to the "Chauhan Kabila" of Rajputana clan. It was said that the Rao Devraj is the descendant of Prithviraj III. Before the 19th century this region was known as battleground of the Jodhpur State and Meena Tribe.

Pindwara is located at 24.7945°N 73.055°E / 24.7945; 73.055.[2] It has an average elevation of 372 m (1,220 ft). Inner Pindwara: The inner city of Pindwara is the main and religious area of Pindwara having many ancient Jain-Hindu temples and markets such as Sadar Bazar, Udaipur Road Bazar, Old Mill Big Bazar, etc. It has shops for all categories like cloths, shoes, cosmetic items, metal items, sweets store etc. Ancient temple of Lord Mahavir by Samprati Maharaj And Shakti Mata Mandir is situated in middle of the city.

Outer Pindwara: The outer area of Pindwara is industrial, transportation and residential developing area. These area have transportation facility of railway station and bus stand. This area has a RIICO area for industrial development with 230+ factories of different categories. Area developing its residential area on station road, Ahmedabad road and Jhadoli road. This area have park, police station, civil court and government offices of tehsil, SDM office, panchayat samiti, etc.

As of the 2011 India census,[3] Pindwara had a population of 24,487. Males constitute 52.40% of the population and females 47.60%. Pindwara has an average literacy rate of 75.98%, higher than the state average of 66.11%. 88.86% of the males and 61.84% of females are literate. 13.93% of the population is under 6 years of age. There are 25 wards in the city As per order of government of Rajasthan 2019. Pindwara is the most populous tehsil in district Sihori with 2,61,789 Population with Control over 107 villages. Religious population of Pindwara is 88.56% Hindu, 7.55% Muslim, 0.08% Sikhs, 3.68% Jain, 0.05% Christians and 0.03% didn't stated.

Economy

Pindwara is home of three large and 250+ medium-small industries generating revenue in Hundred Crores. RIICO and three large factories provide employments to the citizens. Wolkem India ltd, situated at Sirohi road, is Asia's biggest miner Of Wallastonite. Pindwara ranked second number in Rajasthan in Calcite mining after Udaipur. Pindwara have Transport Nagar at Sirohi road. Approx. 35,000 peoples work in the factories of Pindwara.

Pindwara is well connected with the Indian cities by road and railways.

Road

Pindwara connects to two major National Highways. The first is National Highway 27, which is the longest national highway in India and also named as East West Corridor Connecting Porbandar (Gujarat) to Silchar (Assam). The second is National Highway 62 which originates from Pindwara and runs to Abohar (Punjab) while connecting cities like Palanpur, Sirohi, Udaipur, Pali etc. Approximately 150+ buses of RSRTC and GSRTC pass through Pindwara Bus Stand.

Rail

Pindwara is well connected by Rail transport by Pindwara railway station with Indian cities of Banglore, Ajmer, Jaipur, Puri, Mysore, Chennai etc. It is second largest railway of Sirohi district under administrative control of NWR. Pindwara is one of railway station in NWR that sending most frieght traffic.
