Qualification
There will be a total of 180 powerlifters who would compete in the Games based on their rankings on 27 June 2021 when the Paralympic ranking lists are published. There would be eight top ranked male and female powerlifters per event (with the inclusion of twenty bipartite qualification slots which would be announced by May 2020) based on their bodyweight category which they are listed on.[1]
The rankings begin on 25 May 2018 and ends on 27 June 2021 where powerlifters have to achieve the Minimum Qualification Standard (MQS) in order to qualify. All eligible powerlifters will have to compete in all of the compulsory competitions (2017 and 2019 World Championships and one regional championships, this also includes participating in at least one World Para Powerlifting sanctioned competition (World Cup events) in order to gain points respectively; if they do not compete in one of the compulsory competitions, they will be eliminated from the rankings list once the competitions are finished, these are the compulsory competitions in which they have to participate in:[2]
