Table tennis at the 2020 Summer Paralympics

Table tennis at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan will take place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.[1] There will expected to be 280 qualified slots (174 male, 106 female) to compete in male and female events.[2]

Qualification

The qualification period will start on 1 January 2019 and end on 31 March 2020. The qualification slots are allocated to the individual athletes not to the NPCs. Athletes who compete in their regional championships will be likely to qualify for the 2020 Summer Paralympics if they win in their class category respectively.

On 9 January 2019, the International Table Tennis Federation announced that the 2019 INAS Global Games held in Brisbane, Australia will be recognised and it would mean that class 11 players (players with intellectual impairments) will be able to achieve ranking points to compete in the Paralympics. As well as table tennis, athletics (recognised by World Para Athletics) and swimming (recognised by World Para Swimming).[5]
