Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lingayen–Dagupan

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lingayen–Dagupan is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the Province of Pangasinan, Philippines. Its cathedral is the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Dagupan City with a co-cathedral, the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish Church, in neighboring municipality of Lingayen.

History

The Diocese of Lingayen was created in 1928 and renamed Lingayen-Dagupan in 1954. It became an archdiocese in 1963.[1]

Bishops

  • Cesar Ma. Guerrero, DD: February 22, 1929 – December 16, 1937, appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Manila
  • Mariano Madriaga, DD: March 17, 1938 – February 7, 1973, became archbishop when this diocese became archdiocese in 1963; resigned
  • Federico G. Limon, SVD, DD: February 7, 1973 – July 15, 1991, retired (was coadjutor, 1972-1973)
  • Oscar V. Cruz, DD: July 15, 1991 – September 8, 2009, retired
