States of India by Bengali speakers
This is a list of States and Union Territories of India by Bengali speakers at the time of the 2011 Census.[1]
Between Census 2001 and Census 2011 there is a near threefold surge in Bengali speaking population in states like Kerala due to spike in number of migrant labourers to South India.
There is a significant population of Bengalis in states like Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh mainly due to rehabilitation of Bengali Hindu refugees from East Pakistan under Dandakaranya Project.
