Takes a Real Man

Takes a Real Man (simplified Chinese: 真正男子汉; traditional Chinese: 真正男子漢; pinyin: Zhēnzhèng Nánzǐhàn) is a Chinese variety show that airs on Hunan Television. The show is based on the South Korean series Real Men by MBC. The show is a large national defence education special program in the People's Republic of China. Season 1 began airing on May 1, 2015, Friday nights at 10:00 PM with 12 episodes total. Season 2 began airing on October 21, 2016 on Friday nights with 14 episodes total. Season 3 will start filming on June 18, 2017.

Season 1

The first season would start by enlisting 6 males in the People's Liberation Army Ground Force.[1]

Season 2

The second season differed from the first season by enlisting 4 females and 4 males in the People's Liberation Army Air Force.


Episode 9 of season 2 is removed by Hunan TV. However, it is still published on YouTube by other users. [SPOILER ALERT] in case viewers cannot find the video.

The main highlight of episode 9 is Shen Mengchen getting expelled from the troop. How it happen : There was a competition between the 4 chosen pilot -- Huang Zitao , Tong Liya , Shen Mengcheng and Sun Yang. At the end of the competition, 1 member from the losing team will be disqualified. Huang Zitao grouped with Tong Liya, Shen Mengcheng group with Sun Yang. Each of them have to carry a object weight 40 catties (increases thru out the game). Tong Liya was unable to leave the object up hence causing Tao to do everything. They won 75 Points.

Shen Mengcheng did not want Tong Liya to leave the team, hence when the other team member is able to help their teammate ligten the load, Shen Mengcheng stop Sun Yang from moving. Sun Yang was leading by a lot. Shen Mengcheng tried ways to stop Sun Yang, but Sun Yang tried his best to move on. Shen Mengcheng even as Sun Yang to slowed down before the start of the race. In the end Sun Yang team lose and Shen Mengcheng's action were reviewed by officers. In the end, she was forced to leave the squad.

Season 3

Season 3 is currently not on youtube. Not sure if there is even a season 3
