Swift made her chart debut on the US Hot 100 with "Tim McGraw", the lead single from her 2006 self-titled debut album.[6] The album's third single, "Our Song", made Swift the youngest person to single-handedly write and sing a number-one song by themselves on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.[7] Swift's second studio album, Fearless (2008), spawned two international top-five singles—"Love Story" and "You Belong with Me"—the former was Swift's first number one in Australia.[8] The album broke the record for the most US Hot 100 top-40 entries, with 13 of its songs reaching the top 40 including five top-ten entries.[9] Her third studio album, Speak Now, spawned four US top-ten entries, including the singles "Mine" and "Back to December". The lead single from Swift's fourth studio album Red (2012), "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", was her first number one in the United States and New Zealand.[6][10] The album spawned two other international top-ten singles: "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "22".

The lead single from Swift's fifth studio album 1989 (2014), "Shake It Off", became her biggest hit in the United States.[6] It peaked atop the Hot 100 for four weeks, spent nearly six months in the top ten, and has been certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[6][11] The second single, "Blank Space", spent seven weeks atop the US Hot 100, marking Swift's longest weeks atop the chart.[6] Other singles from 1989 included three US top-ten entries: the number one "Bad Blood", "Style", and "Wildest Dreams". 1989 and Fearless made Swift the second woman to have at least two albums each score five or more US Hot 100 top-ten songs.[upper-alpha 1] She scored her fifth US Hot 100 number one with "Look What You Made Me Do", the lead single from her sixth studio album Reputation (2017).[13] The single was her first number one in the United Kingdom.[14] Other singles from Reputation were "...Ready For It?", which reached the top five on charts in Australia and the United States, and "Delicate", its longest-charting song in the United States.[15]

Her seventh studio album, Lover (2019), spawned three US Hot 100 top-ten entries: "Me!", "You Need to Calm Down", and "Lover". All 18 tracks of Lover charted on the Hot 100 in the same week, breaking the record for the most simultaneous entries on the chart by a female artist.[16] Swift's sixth number-one single on the US Hot 100 was "Cardigan", the lead single from her number-one eighth studio album, Folklore (2020), which made her the first artist to debut atop both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 in the same week.[17] All of the album's 16 tracks debuted on the Hot 100 in the same week, breaking the record for the most simultaneous debuts by a woman.[18] Other Folklore singles include the international top-ten entries "Exile" and "The 1". Swift scored her seventh Hot 100 number one with "Willow", the lead single off her Billboard 200 number-one ninth studio album Evermore (2020).[5] Besides material for her albums, Swift has recorded songs for film soundtracks including "Today Was a Fairytale" for Valentine's Day (2010), her first number one in Canada,[19] and "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" with Zayn for Fifty Shades Darker (2016), which was certified Diamond in France.[20]
