Turks in Liechtenstein

Turks in Liechtenstein (German: Türken in Liechtenstein Turkish: Lihtenştayn Türkleri) refers to ethnic Turkish people who have come to Liechtenstein from the Republic of Turkey, the island of Cyprus, or from other former Ottoman countries with Turkish minorities; in addition, the term can also apply to the growing Liechtenstein-born community with Turkish origins.

Population

In 2009 there was approximately 1,000 people of Turkish origin living in Liechtenstein.[1] Official statistics do not provide information on the growing Liechtenstein-born community of Turkish origin; rather, it only gives information on nationality. Consequently, the number of Turkish citizens continues to decline, despite the growing population of Turkish origin, because of the increasing number of Turks obtaining Liechtensteinian citizenship. In 2017 there was only 609 Turkish citizens living in Liechtenstein, which was down from 894 in 2007.[4] Overall, the Turkish community forms approximately 3% of the country's total population.[2]

Turks are the sixth-largest group of foreigners in Liechtenstein, behind Swiss, Austrians, Germans, Italians, and Portuguese;[5] however, did does not take into account the Liechtenstein-born Turkish community.
