Udaan (2014 TV series)

Udaan (transl. Flight) is an Indian social drama television series that aired on Colors TV from 18 August 2014 to 28 June 2019.[5][6] From 2014 to 2016, the show starred child actor Spandan Chaturvedi who played young Chakor.[7] It then took a generation leap and from 2016 to 2019, the show revolved around Chakor, Suraj, Imli and Vivaan played by Meera Deosthale, Vijayendra Kumeria, Vidhi Pandya and Paras Arora.[8][9] In 2019, the show took another leap and focused on Saanvi a.k.a. Anjor and Sameer played by Tanya Sharma and Gaurav Sareen.[10]

Plot

Prelude

The prelude is set in 1996 in Azadganj village where wealthy landlord Kamal Narayan uses the villagers as bonded labourers. Couple Bhuvan Lal Singh and Kasturi face financial difficulty; as collateral for a loan, they agree to let Kamal use their first child as a servant when she becomes seven years old.

8 years later

Chakor is an aspiring marathon runner, with a younger sister named Imli. While she goes to Kamal's haveli (mansion) to serve and becomes friends with his nephew Vivaan, she also speaks for the villagers' rights against the landlord.

It is revealed that Chakor has a twin sister Chunni who was secretly raised in Mumbai. Kamal kills Chunni, and Chakor vows revenge.

Chakor's marathon coach elopes with Kamal's daughter, and Chakor escapes with them to pursue her dreams. She vows to return to the village after ten years. In revenge for the betrayal, Kamal has Chakor's grandmother buried alive.

10 years later

Chakor returns after becoming a marathon runner, but Imli hates her for leaving and Vivaan also holds a grudge. Chakor learns the truth of her grandmother's death and has Kamal arrested, though he is later released. Vivaan is angered when his widowed mother Ranjana marries Kamal, and cuts ties with his mother when he learns that she murdered his father. Vivaan rebuilds his bond with Chakor and they fall in love.and Imli fall in love with Suraj

Suraj's marriage is arranged to a marathon runner, with a double ceremony planned for them and Vivaan and Chakor. Imli reveals that she is pregnant by Suraj and they explain to his bride-to-be who agrees to conspire to switch places at the ceremony. However, Suraj shows his cruelty by switching the sisters so that Imli is married to Vivaan while Chakor is married to Suraj. Chakor is initially blamed, and mistreated by Suraj. Imli falls for Vivaan Suraj falls for Imli and Vivaan also fall for Imli.Imli and Vivaan goes on a candle light dinner and imli falls on a stone and suffer a miscarriage Suraj released Chakor Imli wants Vivaan and Chakor again Chakor is very happy by Imli decision but Suraj shows her how much Vivaan and imli love each other and Chakor once again scariface her happiness .Kamal Naryan makes a re entery and Chakor become Suraj shelid but


Suraj is made a labourer by his father, Vivaan also join hand with Kamal and Ragini Chakor and Suraj both falls for each other but doesn't express their feelings .On their first wedding anniversary both propose each other and Imli tells Vivaan she is pregnant but Vivaan is shocked because his doctor tell him that cannot pregnant any one and suspect that Imli is carrying Suraj child again to save Imli and her unborn child Suraj lied and said that Imli is carrying his child Chakor is heartbroken and take divorce from Suraj but truth comes out that Ragini is behind all this Inspector Ajay falls for Chakor this makes Suraj jealous Ajay propose Chakor and Chakor tells him that she just love Suraj Suraj again propose Chakor which she happily agree and marriage preparation is start Chakor Suraj Imli Vivaan goes on a summer camp where Suraj and Chakor marries and consummate their marriage

Imli conceals a miscarriage from Vivaan, causing a rift when he learns the truth. She gives him a sleeping injection and he falls into a coma. Imli suspects Chakor of betraying her to Vivaan, and conspires with Kamal to have her sister stabbed and thrown into a river.

1 month later

Chakor was saved from the river by a priest at Varansi and recovered in his house, where she learns that she is pregnant. Imli led Suraj to believe that Chakor left him. When contacted, Imli discourages Chakor from returning by saying that Suraj wants to kill her. Chakor is sheltered by Inspector Ranvijay, and later meets and reconciles with Suraj. However, Ranvijay realizes that Suraj is the son of Kamal, who killed his father, and seeks revenge by kidnapping Suraj. Ranvijay tries to forcefully marry Chakor but is arrested.

The couple return to their home village. Imli says that she lied to save them from Kamal, and is forgiven. Kamal kidnaps Chakor and she suffers a miscarriage. Chakor kills Kamal to avenge the deaths in her family, freeing the villagers from debt, and is jailed for five years.

5 years later

Chakor returns to the village. Ranvijay and Imli are married and conspired to take over the mansion, keeping an amnesiac Suraj as their servant. Imli mistreats the villagers keeping Suraj's mom Tejaswini locked in a secret room. Suraj regains his memories and reunites with Chakor; they free Tejaswini. Imli kills Ranvijay and escapes. The village is freed again.

2 years later

Chakor and Suraj operate a business with tycoon Karan. Imli returns and joins with Karan to destroy Chakor. However, Karan dies in an accident and Imli is arrested when Vivaan awakens from his coma. Imli is later released. Her gun dealer tries to kill Suraj; when Vivaan gets in the way, Chakor accidentally shoots him to death. Imli swears revenge for Vivaan's death; she kidnaps Chakor and Suraj's daughter Saanvi and fakes the young girl's death. Suraj blames Chakor and severs ties with her. Chakor and her parents leave the village, while Imli makes Saanvi a labourer.

7 years later

Saanvi has been raised under the name Anjor by labourer couple Sugna and Kesho. Chakor returns to the village for work and rescues Saanvi from goons; they become friends, unaware of their kinship. Suraj visits for business and also forms a bond with Saanvi. Chakor learns that their daughter is alive and tells Suraj, but he is furious and refuses to believe her. Imli blackmails Saanvi to have Chakor arrested on false charges. Chakor discovers this and Imli reveals Saanvi's identity. The family is reunited and Imli is arrested.Children disappear from the village, and it is revealed that politician Rajeshwari Singh and her son Vikram have been poisoning their injections. Chakor and Suraj banish them, but Vikram sets a bomb that kills Suraj. Chakor is devastated but, rather than telling Saanvi, pays look-alike Raghav Khanna to take his place.The family of Tejaswini's brother come to live at the mansion following his death. The son-in-law, Akash, is a younger son of Rajeshwari, and vows revenge. Raghav falls in love with Chakor, who realizes Akash's identity while Imli learns Raghav's identity. Saanvi comes to realize that Raghav is not who he claims to be and that her father is dead. Chakor is sentenced jail for 10 years for the murder which she has not done.

Production

It replaced the long-running series Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.[13] The show was produced by Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and was based on his unreleased movie of the same name.[14][5]

It was the fourth longest-running Indian television series of Colors TV after Balika Vadhu, Sasural Simar Ka and Uttaran.[15] With more than 1300 episodes, it was one of the longest running Indian television series.[16]
