Ugo Ugochukwu

Ugo Ugochukwu (born 23 April 2007) is an American go-kart racer. He is a member of the Sauber Junior Team and the current European Karting Champion in the OKJ-Class.[1]

Career

Karting

In 2015 Ugochukwu competed in the Florida Winter Tour in the Rotax Micro Max class, winning the series.[2] Following that the American moved to compete in Europe, racing in the 60 Mini category in, among others, the Italian Karting Championship, where he finished sixth.

The year after he remained in the Italian series, missing out on the title to Gabriele Minì.[3] Furthermore, the American finished seventh in the WSK Super Master Series.

In the Winter of 2018 Ugochukwu returned to the Florida Winter Tour, this time in the ROK Junior category, where he finished second.[4] That year the American also won the Challenge of the Americas and came runner-up in the Italian Karting Championship.

For 2019 he progressed to the OKJ karting class with Ricky Flynn Motorsport. Ugochukwu raced in a number of European championships, most notably the WSK Open Cup, where he finished fourth in the drivers' standings, and the FIA Karting European Championship, where the American archieved an eighth place with three race wins. He also made an appearance at the Karting World Championship, finishing 30th.

In 2020 won the European Karting Championship in the OKJ class for KR Motorsport.[5] He then made another appearance at the Karting World Championship with Sauber Karting Team.[6]

In 2020 Ugochukwu was officially introduced as a member of the Sauber Junior Team.[7]

Personal life

Ugochukwu was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but raised in New York City.[8]
