Velké Hoštice

Velké Hoštice (German: Groß Hoschütz) is a municipality and village in Opava District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has around 1,800 inhabitants. It a is part of the historic Hlučín Region, it lies close to the border with Poland.

History

The 16th century château in classical Baroque-Rococo character found in Velké Hoštice and its estate was once part of the Moravian-Bohemian Counts of Chorinští of Ledské dynasty. Since 1742 the village belonged to Prussia after Maria Theresa had been defeated.
