WSDV

WSDV (1450 AM) is a radio station owned and operated by iHeartMedia, Inc. for the Sarasota-Bradenton market. The station first went on the air December 7, 1939 as WSPB, 250watts at 1420kc with tower and facilities located on City Island. The NARBA adjustment in 1941 moved the dial position to 1450. WSPB affiliated with the CBS network and was unique among stations on the west coast of Florida to run hourly news updates before this was a common practice. In 1965 WSPB-FM signed on at 106.3 (now WRUB at 106.5) as a full-time simulcast of the AM. There have been many formats at 1450, ranging from Classical Music in the 1990's to Oldies later in the decade.[1] It was the Sarasota affiliate of 970 WFLA until 2002.

On January 3, 2014, WSDV and its simulcast sister station WDDV (1320 AM) rebranded themselves as "Sunny" and diverted from adult standards to an Oldies/Soft AC format.[2]

On March 17, 2016, WSDV and WDDV switched to a news/talk format.[3]

On November 1, 2017, WSDV split from its simulcast with WDDV and began stunting with Christmas music. On January 1, 2018, the station became 103.9 Kiss FM with a Top 40/CHR format, not the original hot adult contemporary format as first reported.[4] As such (not counting its FM translator), it is the only iHeartMedia-owned KISS-FM station on the AM band.
