2021 V.League 1

The 2021 V.League 1 (known as the LS V.League 1 for sponsorship reasons) is the 65th professional season of the top-flight football league in Vietnam.[1][2]

Competition format

The league will operate a 2 stage system. The first stage will comprise of one round-robin set of fixtures, with 7 teams playing 7 games at home, and 7 teams playing only 6 games at home. The top 6 will then enter the Championship Play-off, and the bottom 8 will enter the Relegation Play-off. Both play-off stages will comprise one round of fixtures. In the Championship Play-off, the teams ranked 1-3 will play 3 home games, with the teams ranked 4-6 playing 2 home games. In the Relegation Play-off, teams finishing 7-10 in Stage 1 will play 4 home games, teams ranked 11-14 will play 3 home games. The team ending Stage 2 in 13th position will enter the Relegation Playoff against the team finishing 2nd in 2021 V.League 2. The team finishing in 14th position will be automatically relegated.

A total of 14 teams are contesting the league, including 13 sides from the 2019 season and Topenland Binh Dinh promoted from the 2019 V.League 2 season.[3]
