It currently has over 40 stores over two floors and a multi-storey car park for customers. There are approved plans for the expansion of the centre which will also re-develop the adjacent bus station and add a tram station for the expansion of Manchester Metrolink. The expansion of the centre will cost £40m[1] and add 180,000 sq ft (17,000 m²) of retail space which will more than double the current centre. The expansion comes at a time when Ashton has seen huge regeneration with a new leisure park at Ashton Moss and the UK's first in-town IKEA store.

Ashton Arcades boasts an array of different retailers including: Next, New Look, H.Samuel, Thorntons, Wilko, WHSmith, The Works, Superdrug, JD & various others.
