Brodek u Přerova

Brodek u Přerova (until 1949 just Brodek) is a market town in Přerov District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,900 inhabitants. It is located 9 km northwest of Přerov.

Village of Luková is an administrative part of Brodek u Přerova.

History

The first written mention of Brodek dates back to 1301. Brodek was a property of the Dominican Monastery in Olomouc until 1782.[2] Brodek u Přerova was granted the market town status in 2009.[3]

Economy

Today the market town is known for bellfounding. Bells of many churches in the Czech Republic have been cast in local workshop of Dytrych family, founded in 1951.
