Cacho Island
Cacho Island (Bulgarian: остров Качо, romanized: ostrov Cacho, IPA: [ˈɔstrof ˈkat͡ʃo]) is the 750 m long in northwest-southeast direction and 350 m wide rocky island separated from Hall Peninsula on the east side of Snow Island in the South Shetland Islands by a passage narrowing to just 60 m. Surface area 19 ha. It is crescent-shaped facing northeast and forming the northeast coast of Ivaylo Cove.[1] The area was visited by early 19th century sealers.[2]

The feature is named after the Spanish physicist, polar explorer and author Javier Cacho Gómez, participant in the 1986/87 Spanish Antarctic expedition and base commander at Juan Carlos I base in subsequent seasons, for his contribution to the promotion of Antarctica and support for the Bulgarian Antarctic programme.[1]
Location
Cacho Island is located at 62°46′05″S 61°14′38″W, which is 5 km south-southwest of the northeast extremity of President Head, 12.4 km northeast of Cape Conway and 30.3 km northwest of Deception Island. Bulgarian mapping in 2009 and 2017.
